We’re all about making your photoshoot an incredible experience without any unnecessary fuss. And that includes explaining why we often suggest sunrise and sunset as the ideal times for your photoshoot.
Now, I hear you. You’re thinking, 'Why can’t we just shoot at a time that’s more convenient for my family?' Well, there’s more to this than meets the eye. There's so many factors in how we made this decision. Over the years we have run in to just about every scenario you could imagine taking photos on the beach. So here are a few that are deal breakers for doing shoots in the middle of the day!
First off, let’s talk light. It’s not just about avoiding that squinty ‘I’m staring directly into the sun’ look, although that’s a valid point. Early morning and late afternoon light is soft, warm, and downright flattering. It’s exactly what we need to capture those beautiful, natural-looking photos that you'll cherish. We want you looking your best, and no matter how good we are at photoshop, you have to start with the right conditions!
Next up, temperature. Have you ever tried to look cool, calm, and collected while you’re sweating buckets in the midday sun? Trust me, it’s not the best look. Early morning or late afternoon shoots are usually cooler and much more comfortable, especially if you’re wearing those elegant outfits we often suggest for shoots.
AND THE PEOPLE! The Emerald Coast is growing in popularity every year. During the peak times of the day is when you'll find the most people on the beach, which means you may have some folks in the background that you may or may not want to be a part of that memory forver. You get what we mean.
And let's not forget the little ones. We realize that sunset may not be the ideal time for the grumpy littles in the fam. We suggest coming armed with treats, and a relaxed dimeanor. Sunset can be a fun time of day even for the most grumpy little guy or girl if we just approach it like a quilck little family trip down to the beach to watch the sunset. So, if you have kids in the photoshoot, you’ll appreciate this point. Bedtime is usually early evening for the kiddos, right? Well, wrap up a sunset shoot and you’ve got tired but happy children who are ready for a good night’s sleep. It’s a win-win situation.
There’s method in our madness. We want your photoshoot to be as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, and that extends to the time of day we recommend. It might mean an early start or a late finish, but we promise it’ll be worth it. After all, we’re not just taking pictures, we’re capturing memories. And we want those memories to be bathed in the most magical light possible. That’s the Lambeth Creative difference!
